Spring cleaning has been like a tradition of clearing up the mess in our homes; from the heaps of fallen flower blooms in the yard to carpets with all-season tracked-in dirt. There are some steps that you can take to spruce up your home and heighten your confidence in inviting in your guests while you get ready to usher in the next season. While it may seem daunting, taking an organized approach may turn the whole process into a fun-filled task.

Huge piles of laundry, dirty and disorderly kitchen, books thrown about in the library and bushy patio are terrifying things to look at; especially when you are about to get into cleaning. Asking a hand of help from family members can make the duty much easier, else you can look for cleaning services if you feel work-shy. All in all, taking time to asses the cleaning areas and requirements can be a good step.

Assess Areas to Clean

Take some time to survey your house; both indoors and outdoor and jolt down a list of areas that need cleaning. List your areas according to the level of attention so as you may start with the most demanding areas. In this order, even if you fail to finish up the task in the same day, it will be easy to pick up the rest of the work in another day. Some of the areas you may want to pay much attention to are the living room, the kitchen, the bedroom and the laundry, the garage, the attic, crawlspace and the basements as well as the outdoors.

Gather Cleaning Equipments

Now it’s time to get set for the spruce up. It wouldn’t be really nice to look up for a scrubbing brush while you are at the middle of a task. Get all your tools, cleaning detergents and water needed ready so as not to waste time trying to locate them. Also, make sure that vacuum or steam cleaners, lawn mowers and other cleaning devices are in good working condition. One of the most likely things you will need to do during spring cleaning is to get rid of stuff that you don’t need. Therefore, you may need empty bins to discard your junk. Empty bags that are unusable can be used to put in rubbish; else they can be bought from cleaning services stores or from shops.

Bedroom spring cleaning

Bedroom is one of the areas where clean up is easily said than done. Empty the closets and get laundry done, have the beddings, the pillows, comforters, draperies, curtains and floor mart taken out for cleaning. Once you empty the room then you can dust down the ceiling, the corners and window sills. You may choose either to give your wall a thorough full wash, clean spots only or just dust it off. Wipe the photographs and framed art carefully to avoid damage. Mop the floor or vacuum-clean the carpet after everything is done.

The kitchen

A kitchen spring clean up mostly will involve clearing out clutter in cabinets, refrigerators, smoky oven and cleaning dirty dishes, cutlery and other items in the room. You may entirely wash the walls or remove dirty spots with soapy water. Remember to air-up clogged ventilations and sink outlets, and finally finish up with the floor.

The living room

Living rooms are the areas that you probably spend most of your time with the family and guests. Therefore, this area may require more of your attention. First, get rid of anything you don’t need in the room so as to give you space for a slick up. Dust off the ceiling, walls, clean the window sills and remember to open up air vents. Wipe door knobs, switch plates, drawers and other items in the room. Then give your floor a fine treat as it makes the biggest statements about your home.

The outdoors

When it comes to your courtyard, a more thought-out plan may be needed so as to make the most out of it with daily attendance. Consider choosing flowers and grass that are less bushy to avoid frequent cutting and mowing. Treat your outdoor furniture with appropriate wood furnishes to ensure they stay longer. You may also shelter your outdoor furniture with tent umbrellas to avoid hash sunlight and wetness.

Other areas like the garage, attic, crawlspace and the basements can be clean-up last as they may not need much time. After every part of the house is spotless, it’s time to clean up your tools; the vacuum machines, blooms, rugs and mowers. Most people do not take this as part of the clean up exercise. However, your home is not yet clean until the cleaning machines are dusted, washed, stored appropriately, and the clutter disposed. After all this is done then you can sit back and relax.
